National CONI (Care of the Next Infant Programme) Coordinator

Salary: £32,000- £39,000 Pro Rata

The purpose of this role is to assist the Care of the Next Infant Programme (CONI) Lead and support the development of the CONI across England, Wales, Northern Ireland (including Armed Services overseas)

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is a specialist Community Public Health Nurse (Health Visitor) Midwife, General Nurse, or Paediatric Nurse with community experience with children and families, and would like to work with an established successful charity.

The main focus is:

  • To provide support, advice, training, and guidance to professionals delivering the CONI Programme.
  • To manage enquires about the CONI Programme from professionals and families.
  • To assist families and professionals where the CONI Programme is not available.
  • To contribute to the monitoring of the effectiveness of the CONI Programme and its impact, against the Lullaby Trust’s overall strategic objectives.
  • To contribute to the continuing development of the Programme.

Main Responsibilities:

To provide support, advice, training, and guidance to professionals delivering the CONI Programme:

  • Provide ongoing support to CONI coordinators by telephone and email including advice about clinical issues and service delivery.
  • Work with the Professional Advisor and Training Lead to provide training for new coordinators and updates for existing coordinators.
  • Provide advice and guidance to the NHS/local authorities on the implementation of the Care of the Next Infant Programme.
  • Coordinate the recording of equipment provided to local CONI teams.
  • Assist with the distribution of equipment (e.g. movement monitors and weighing scales).

To manage and monitor enquires about the Care of the Next Infant Programme from professionals and families:

  • Work with the Support Team to answer and respond to CONI enquiries from families and professionals in a timely way.
  • Refer families to the Support Team for bereavement support when required.
  • Make enquiries with relevant CONI Coordinators to establish if CONI is available, referring families when available.
  • Maintain records of enquiries and update the CONI spreadsheet on enquiries, progress, and outcomes.
  • Ensure families are kept up to date on progress.
  • Provide support and information for families and professionals with access to the CONI Programme via telephone and online.
  • Assist and advise other teams within the Lullaby Trust with CONI enquiries and provide up to date information.

To assist families and professionals where the CONI Programme is not available:

  • Provide assistance, free resources, and information to families and professionals where the Programme is not available via email, telephone, and other media.
  • Refer families to the Support Team for bereavement support when required.
  • Assist professionals and families to lobby for the CONI Programme to be available across England, Wales, Northern Ireland (including Armed Services and territories overseas)

To monitor the effectiveness of the CONI Programme and its impact against the Lullaby Trust’s overall strategic objectives:

  • Contribute to the monitoring and evaluation of the effectiveness and impact of the CONI Programme.
  • Record enrolments onto the Programme and review feedback from parents.

To contribute to the continuing development of the Programme:

  • Work with the CONI Lead and the Professional Advisor and Training Lead to ensure the sustainability of the Programme by ensuring it reflects the public health commissioning agenda across England, Wales, and Northern Ireland (including Armed Services and territories overseas)
  • Contribute to the development of new initiatives to ensure support for families remains relevant and sustainable.
  • Maintain knowledge of developments within health service provision and family social care to identify opportunities for improving support for bereaved families.
  • Disseminate information about the CONI Programme at professional meetings and conferences (in person or virtually).
