ENGIE are recruiting a Facilities & Maintenance Officer to be based at the Pritchatts Park village at the University of Birmingham. The Facilities & Maintenance Officer will be responsible for overseeing and contributing to the delivery of the day-to-day facilities management for the residential estate, covering all Hard and Soft services, ensuring that works are delivered in a customer focused and friendly manner. Managing a team of in-house maintenance engineers, security officers and various Subcontractors, they will be responsible for ensuring the student accommodation units are safe, clean, and maintained to a high standard, with a key focus on delivering exceptional customer service to students.

What is your day to day? 

Ensure all maintenance activities are delivered in accordance with the customer service standards of the account – championing a friendly and engaging attitude towards residents of the estate. 

Support the maintenance engineers in providing the initial response to all Reactive Maintenance & cleaning requests.

Liaise directly with residents when and where needed, promoting a culture of engagement and support between all Engie staff and residents / visitors to the site.

Work with the Customer Services Officer to ensure any student feedback and any concerns noted are addressed.

Plan the delivery of all works in a manner that minimises disruption to residents, recognising that the accommodation provides both personal living and private study spaces for students.

Ensure all attendances / entry to residences are made in strict accordance with the access protocols set out by the University

Planned and timed checks to be carried out of showerheds and hose, hot and cold water systems and fire alarms amongst others.

Undertake regular visual inspections of building fabric, furniture, fixtures & fittings and effect repairs where required.

Provide support & cover to the Customer services team in the reception & helpdesk, logging reactive work orders on the Maximo CAFM system when needed.

Who are you? 

Applicants will be subject to a basic Disclosure & Barring (DBS) check.

Trade qualification or professional body membership essential as CSCS card registration will be a mandatory requirement of this role.

Demonstrable working knowledge of workplace Health & safety; IOSH / NEBOSH training highly desirable.

Experience of Maximo / other CAFM systems is desirable

Experience in managing Statutory Compliance desirable

Demonstrate good time management skills, working to deadlines and adhering to set procedures. 

Needs to be highly motivated, organised, versatile and adaptive
