Assistant Accountant

Salary: £30,972 – £33,926 Per Annum

The role

Orbit are delighted to announce that we are looking to recruit an Assistant Accountant into our Service Charge team on a 12 month FTC. You will be responsible for providing support to the Accountant and Finance Manager to ensure the accuracy of financial information. This will include preparation of accruals and prepayments, journals, balance sheet reconciliations and the distribution of monthly budget holder reports.

This role is part of Finance where you’ll help us to invest more back into communities and design for strength.

What you’ll achieve

  • Maintain accurate information on the financial ledgers e.g preparing and posting journals, reconciling accounts, etc
  • Managing accurate information on deferred income
  • Maintain the integrity of balance sheet accounts and support with the preparation of budgets and forecasts
  • Providing information to your customers and the Accountant to inform the budget setting
  • Establish and maintain robust relationships with your customers ensuring that you understand their needs and their business
  • Proactively seek out other views and methods to resolve problems and improve service delivery
  • Provide accurate information for internal and external auditors

What you’ll bring

To be successful in this role of Assistant Accountant you will need to be a part qualified Accountant with an expert knowledge of Excel.

Essential skills

  • Ability to work on own initiative
  • Good literacy skills and the ability to communicate clearly with customers.
  • Appropriate experience in a similar finance role
  • Appropriate proven experience of Microsoft Excel including setting up, using and linking spreadsheets along with the use of formulas
